Yay, more Tano and Remin! Mountie's right, it is totally funny that Remin still doesn't realize that Naritano is Xio Voe's chef. And the seeds of Tano making Remin a Nosupolin meal have been officially planted; I can't wait for that.
I'm so glad Remin's first date went well. Despite the bit of tension at the end, it really couldn't have gone better.
But my favorite part was this:
“Speaking of belas, would you believe this?” Desin asked. “They’re trying to figure out if they can sign up for dates with Remin. They’ve been arguing about it all day and they want to consult with Sulano about their contracts.”
Remin became very still.
While Anosanim tried quickly to change the subject, and Rini started to ponder aloud on whether or not belas could date Remin, and Norisa found a comfortable spot on a footstool, Remin gazed unblinking somewhere across the room.
Then Desin corrected Rini. “No, Kudorin’s belas, too. They were talking to Tepeni about it, and-”
Jerking into motion, Remin said, abruptly, “I’m required elsewhere,” and stalked from the room.
Norisa blinked sleepily after him, making an inquisitive noise.
“Hey,” Kudorin said mildly. “I thought that once I became pharaoh, my partners would stop preferring Remin.”
It reminded me of a moment right before the doorwayto Jacacea was figured out. Kudorin told Xio Voe that Remin was across the hallway and Xio Voe said "Dallying with your belas?" and Kudorin responded. "They wish." It's such a testament to how appealing Remin is that even people who have sex with a god on a regular basis want to be near him in any way they can.
The conversation about Vade made me smile. I couldn't help but think of Kudorin's promise that Vade wouldn't have to marry a woman for the sake of Nosupolis. I wonder why he's keeping that to himself; his brothers would probably appreciate the reassurance. And the Sibs fascination with the furry twins was as fun as ever:
“No, give me a minute.” Kudorin closed his eyes, leaning back. “I want to think about having sex in the castle. The mountain air blows so cold. You snuggle in against your partner’s body, seeking warmth. His chest, his thighs, he’s so deliciously furry, and-”
“Wait, who are we fucking?” Rini asked.
“Bade,” Anosanim said.
“Tiko,” Desin said, leaning back with a grin, eyes closed.
“I’ll take Vade,” Talin said, smirking.
“Can I have Bade and Vade?” Rini asked. “I like twins.”
Talin rolled his eyes.
“Mmm, he always moans so earnestly, I can hear how much he wants it,” Kudorin said, sighing, rubbing his chest with one slow hand. His hips rolled sinuously. “When I pin him to the furs, he groans with pleasure, he loves it.”
“Two more sentences of this, and I’ll have to ask your brothers to leave,” Xio Voe said coolly.
And I had a thought: do you really think that Orinakin and Bade (because they'll find out as soon as they step off that balloon, for sure), Selorin, Desin, Anosanim, Talin, and Rini--of all people, Rini--will be able to keep the secret that Naritano will marry Remin? Keep it from Remin, that is. The brothers are in each other's pockets so much and are so open and chatty with each other that I can't help but think that one of them will let it slip at some point.
