That was an amazing chapter lots of in depth stuff on Tano interspersed with more with the Siblings.  My heart  Heartbroken when Remin and Anosanim were discussing how long to leave Talin to continue in his fugue.   Cry

I continue to  Floating Hearts Xio Voe and Kudorin.  I  Red Heart that Tano figured out he trust Remin but am a bit concered he thinks Remin may actually intentionally try to manipulate people with his voice.  I do not think Remin would do that intentionally to anyone but his brothers.  What a lovely date Remin had this time.  And the Scared Remin was feeling while Tano had his melt down shows that the Gods have linked him to Tano like he is linked him to his family.  The conversation with Remin, Xio Voe and Kudorin was enlightening.

But onto the meat of the chapter:

Sooo... Wow I really got a look into Tano's head and though I know he will be fine and Ilanosa's priest will be able to help lots he's got a big hangup about sex and cooking and anxiety and...guilt??? Thinking

I am starting to feel, that this is purely psychological. I postulate that as we explore the roots of how and why Tano started screwing up after he had had sex that there was a shift in Tano's thinking that caused him to join his anxiety to sex and to his cooking. In times of stress sometimes we do that. It could have been after his Grandmother died he had sex, felt guilty that he shouldn't have enjoyed himself physically when he should be grieving so decided unconsciously he needed to do penance for his pleasure. It could have snowballed from there and the penance for not grieving appropriately and the anxiety just got distilled down to sex and cooking taking the grieving and honoring his Grandmother out of the equation. So now he doesn't see the aspect of grieving for his Grandmother at all. Human brains are funny that way.

I am sure that Ilanosa's priests should be able to counsel him and help get to the root of the problem. Once he recognizes it and allows himself to let it go then he should be OK. Mind you it could take him a long time to peel the layers of this psychological onion off and uncover the base concept that allows for him to tie himself up in this emotional knot. I am glad that Xio Voe and Tano were able to discuss and look at possible ways for him to get relief from this belief system. I can't see that the Gods would visit this on him themselves for the purpose of keeping him chaste, Kudorin's distress over the matter is evidence of that. If the Gods were toying with Tano I am sure Kudorin would have gone and bopped heads. BUT I can see the Gods not stepping in once it was formed so that Tano and Remin would feel safe with each other and a shared kinship of both of them being chaste.

What do you all think?

I think, have always thought, that it is purely psychological. Something being all in your head doesn't make it any less real, of course, but it does make it easier to deal with once you get proper counseling. I loved that Xio Voe and Tano spoke candidly about it and I really loved that Remin felt the Disturbance In The Force, too.

I think that counseling will help a lot and I also suspect that Remin will be involved in it somehow. Not because he and Tano are destined to be together, but because Remin is possibly the best counselor in Orina Anoris.

This made me laugh:
Quote
Eventually, Anosanim had to go back to Ritek and Kudorin had to go back to Xio Voe, but Selorin settled into bed with him, and they talked about guys and sex and local night life as he drifted off to sleep.

“I’m glad you’re here,” he murmured, yawning.

“I’m always here.”  Selorin sounded faint, sleepy.

Going out every night was interesting.  “I wonder if I met my husband tonight and didn’t even realize it.  That would be funny,” he mused, drowsy, unable to open his eyes.

“Yeah.”  Selorin was chuckling.  “Yeah, Remin, that’d be funny.”
Heehee. Also, I continue to adore how the Sibs co-sleep. I tend to think of them as cuddling up like puppies and kittens do with their littermates.

And I'm really glad that Remin had a nice date with a nice man.  Smiley

Remin deserved to have a nice date after the disasterous one the night before. And I loved how well Xio Voe handled Naritano's problem. Poor Talin, I really want to see him fall in love with someone who will truely appreiciate him. *sighs*

He didn't. He complains to Xio Voe he doesn't have anything good to enjoy from the experience.  I think if he is going to experience a nocturnal emission he should at least go have a great time.  So if he wakes up after one, what is 6 more hours of not being able to cook going to make a difference.  He should run to an inatanum? and get laid.  Then he will have a pleasant memory to go with the week from hell that follows.

I love that he was able to talk to XV about what was happening.  And I love even more than XV advised him on what to do.  Yes, he recognnized that Tano is his future brother in law, and that's one of the reasons he's not going to allow Tano to leave.

That, and he loves Tano's food too much.

But I love it that he took the time to see what was wrong with Tano.  I wish my manager at work were like that.  When he hears our language start to deteriorate and when we start getting behind on work, he doesn't ask us what's wrong, no.  He scolds.  Heck, he's gotten downright angry with me because of my language at the office (never to clients, I'm always good with clients, but afterwards).

Sorry, I digress.  I love that XV asked Tano about what was wrong.  That's the sign of a good boss.
