I haven't been by for a while, but I just read this chapter, and I have to say: my brain broke a little, and I think I liked it. This was the best possible way to end a long, hard day at work.

Why ITL fans should not speak on the phone:
Jae: I love Xio Voe. I want to nom him. Nom nom nom. Rhia: Don't chew on the Heir to the Jacacean Empire, dear. Jae: But I want to! Why must you kill my dreams?

For the first time ever, Matthew wrote an ITL chapter I didn't enjoy. It took me a while to get everything straight in my head and when I did, it was just too...weird.
I think it was Bade's dream. He was the only one who seemed to be who he actually is. And his subconscious is totally tailored to come up with the kind of convoluted fantasy that would transplant familiar personalities into different roles. Selorin as the younger Nosupolin twin did give me a chuckle, though. And if Vade were born an Anorian citizen, he absolutely would have ended up a bela.

What a great April Fools joke! And it wasn't until I spotted the Author's Note at the top of the page this morning I truly understood. I'll indulge Matthew for stretching his creative fingers in this exercise. I think I was most by The Royal Architect Xio Voe and his husband Heir Orinakin. Love that Remin got to be the Royal Farmer and could eat and have sex as much as he liked. This was too funny “Even more ready?” Kudorin laughed, kissing Bade’s cheek. “The only kind of person more eager for sex on a moment’s notice than a Nosupolin prince is a bela.”
“Or an Anorian prince,” Desin said, gazing at one wall as if looking through it to the world beyond. “Gods above, Remin, take a break once in a while.”

I tried to read it but couldn't get through it so I skimmed it to see if and Vade finally have lust sex in this world I didn't dislike it but like you said it was just weird and a bit confusing for me.. But it was a fun twist in the story thanks Matthew !!

April Fool's...haha. Okay. I get it, but I think I didn't like it also because I had just reread 233 and was really looking forward to more Remin and Tano and not getting it felt like I was let down. But as April Fool's jokes go, it was damn creative and I did find the recasting to be thought-provoking. The more I thought about it today, the more I admired Matthew for logically interpreting how their personalities would be different if they'd grown up differently. Like how Orinakin, without his empathy and without the extreme mental strength and genius of Xio Voe, was a very selfish person who nonetheless was very deeply and devotely in love with his husband. And how Anikira underhandedly manipulated her husband into sexually placating a difficult Heir. I wonder if she'll have occaision to do that in the real ITL. LOL
I gotta say, though, the spouse-swapping really threw me off, as well as seeing names/personalities I was used to being brothers (Orinakin and Anosanim) being unrelated and lovers. It was...weird.

I don't want Matthew to regret doing it or feel bad, though--after all, how often does April Fool's Day fall on an ITL update day? It must have been in irresistable temptation. And it must have been nice for him to stretch his brain a bit and do something different. I just kind of wish he'd done a half-and-half kind of thing, with half being the spoof and half being more Remin and Tano. Two weeks without more Gold Book might break my brain. LOL

I wasn't able to finish reading it. I got way too cofused and I was laughing on IM with Liz (who no longer reads ITL, but I update her in the hopes that she'll read again. Her subscription still runs lol). The idea of XV and Orinakin being married and having sex sparked my mind like crazy.
Sounds yummy to me!
