So... the joke... I nearly choked on my lunch reading it.

Xio Voe laughed!!!!!  OMG! OMG!

Xio Voe in bed with Rini!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Dead Faint

Granted, it's not anything but snuggles, but still!  Red Love

I'm in love with TanoRe.  Red Heart Red Heart Red Heart Red Heart Red Heart  I'm in love with the idea of the two of them being in love.  It's yummy, it's rich and creamy, it's... it's like chocolate melting in your mouth and making your toes curl.

Mmmm... chocolate.

What *did* Tano put in the marmalade?

I think Remin was wondering if Tano (and now I have pictures of a prize pig everytime I write Tano in my head Vani) has put marmalade in the pastries. Thinking Damn I'll have to read it again. Giggle

I loved the difference shown between the two Belam with this..

Quote
Widening his eyes and staring intently at Lokelon, Rini asked, “What color are my eyes?”

            “Silver,” Lokelon said.

With a disgusted exhalation, Panori leaned in, gesturing Lokelon back and cupping Rini’s chin in one hand, gazing into his eyes.  “The clearest silver, polished and shining.  Silver gleaming with mischievousness, with innocence, with the bright energy of youth and hope.  Silver radiant with love and life and your own unnatural beauty.  Silver luminous with wonder.  Silver blazing with challenge.  Silver sparkling with divinity.  Captivating, breathtaking silver.”

            Lokelon grunted.  “Like I said.”

And YES!  Xio Voe is turning into the Xio Voe we saw in Xio Wae's dream.  Laughing, warm...

XV waking up Remin and the conversation with Kudorin before hand made me all Dead Faint

And Naritano talking about cooking as love and Remin being drunk on all the  Floating Hearts Naritano showered on him was a wonderful beginning.  I liked Selorin's response to the food and his interaction with Tano afterwards as well.  Did you see Rini was writing to Vade?

I think Naritano's walls will be covered soon with Jacacean realist paintings of food... out in the living room at least.  I am sure when him and Remin marry the bedroom will be full of realistic sex and penis paintings. Adore

Still just at the beginning, but this cracked me up:
Quote
“Love.”  His mind kept coming back to that word.  Love.  Naritano had brought it up, had said, “I cook out of love.  That’s the plainest way I can put it.”  Remin understood that.  He did what he did, served the gods, served the people, served Anosukinom, out of love.  In love, through love, with love, for love.  He loved Anosukinom.  He loved Orina Anoris.  He loved this tender, juicy, exquisitely seasoned roasted hen.  “I love you,” he told the hen.
Heehee, Remin's drunk!  Rolling on the Floor Laughing

So I've been thinking and I think the best part of the chapter was the discussion on the etymology of Naritano's name, Kudorin's nickname for him, and the fact that Remin is the prized beast of the family. It wasn't just that Tano is the "tano," it was that 1) we saw Xio Voe laugh hysterically, which was awesome, and 2) the first thing we saw him do after he left Remin was to inform Desin of the "coincidence" in terminology and agree that the rest of the Sibs would love the joke.

This is the kind of thing I was looking forward to the most in whatever book came after Kudorin's: Xio Voe thawing a little, integrating into the family, being a little more human with people other than his husband. I love seeing Remin slowly fall in love with his future husband, but I love seeing Xio Voe like this just as much.

And then I got kind of sad because I remembered that Orinakin and Bade are missing all this. Hopefully they'll come home soon so they can share in all this. I'm particularly interested in Orinakin being in the same room with Remin and Naritano and seeing what exactly his empathy picks up. Is it love yet? Is it still just friendship? Will either of them have any clue by that time?
