Which to me implies that Orinakin knows from first hand experience. I also recall Rini asking if he could "console" Akano after Selorin breaks up with him. So more than one sibling has a tendency to sleep with some men, but do they have groupies? Guys that try to sleep with them all? Or is that a really dumb question and I just need to stop reading Sharon Shinn?
That's a very realistic and plausible theory. Could totally be true, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was.
But you know, that actually didn't occur to me at the time for some reason. I just assumed that Orinakin had heard it from someone, since talking about sex is common among friends, etc. Also, because I think that Orinakin is the type of guy who is "the kind of person who really wants to make a commitment" (before and after his ascension) [Anosanim, Ch.11]. Also, I assumed that since Selorin and Vade needed to go through the trouble of interviewing the "candidates" and finding out about them (i.e., checking for a good conversationalist and a big dick for that month's boyfriend), then none of the brothers had had sex/been boyfriends with Lo Mapotesikaro, or else they would have spared Selorin the need to interview him by telling Selorin all about him already (his manners, his conversation, skills in bed, anything and everything Anorians are so comfortable sharing with friends and not just something they heard from a friend--the latter of which is what I interpreted Orinakin's knowledge about Lo Mapotesikaro's dick size to be).
Reason 1) Precedent set in Ch.93 about sharing information b/t friends
“Ritek Lesano?” Rini asked, walking up, sucking on a lollipop, one arm looping through Desin’s. “What about him?”
Anosanim didn’t understand. “Why does everyone know him but me?”
“He was out of the country for a while,” Rini said. “I just heard about him this week. Toreko says he has a really big dick.”Reason 2) Orinakin's track record with men before and after ascension
Ch.11: A conversation b/t Bade and Anosanim
"And Orinakin doesn’t usually have boyfriends?”
“Oh, no, not Orinakin. Orinakin always has a lot of friends, but he’s the kind of person who really wants to make a commitment, and as long as he’s traveling this much, he feels like he can’t truly commit to anyone, like he can’t invest enough time or devote enough attention. I think that because he has so many friends, because he’s so good with people, because people are so naturally drawn to him, it’s easy for him to make simple connections, and he’s looking for a deeper, truer, long-lasting sort of relationship.”Ch.9: A conversation b/t Bade and Orinakin
Why didn’t Orinakin have a boyfriend like that? He was obviously just as handsome as Selorin was, even more so, with that gorgeous hair and those striking, enchanting eyes. And since Kudorin was married and Remin was celibate, Orinakin was the most eligible high-ranking-
“I told you,” Orinakin said with a patient smile, “I’m away too often. Now that I’m in this position, I travel for long stretches of time, and even in the latter years of my apprenticeship, my aunt took me with her with increasing frequency. I’m unwilling to form a new attachment only to be forced to do without it.”
“You could take your boyfriend with you,” Bade said.
“A spouse, I could take with me,” Orinakin said, as they walked down the stairs. “I may not travel with anyone who is not either a family member or working in an official capacity. A boyfriend would clutter my thoughts, would distract me, and would create more work for the rest of my entourage. Also, another important consideration is that the impression I make on my hosts has a great deal to do with my work and Orina Anoris’s international relations. Someone unskilled and untrained in diplomatic matters might unwittingly create a disaster, simply by shaking the wrong hand at the wrong time.”But anyway, that was just my original reaction. After reading your theory, your interpretation could totally and equally be on the mark. (It might be one of those questions we'll never know, won't ever come back up in the story, or something we'll have to ask Matthew on the board here.)
