Ahhh the differences between Orina Anoris and Jacacea... there are plenty of them...

Orina Anoris: ruled by a god.

Jaceca: ruled by a man... who happens to be severely cold.

Orina Anoris: full of cialexes.

Jacacea: full of... well, the rulers are cold.  The people.... they seem relatively normal.  Smiley

Other differences you guy would care to discuss?

Let's get started!

Education!  Health care!  Religion!  Yay!

I don't think that Remin would approve of us discussing the differences in religion. Didn't he lecture Bade, Vade, and Rini on the subject?

I think that discussing the differences is fine.  Saying that one's better than another, or that one isn't as good as another, isn't cool.  But I think that acknowledging that different religions have different gods and different rituals and different beliefs should be okay.  That's probably what Remin studied for years.

The difference in religions is fascinating in any culture.  No one religion is better than the next (Liz, you know me much better than that, honey Smiley).  In this case, I prefer the Anorian religion because I love how immediate the gods are to help Anorians, who truly are devoted to them.  I love the temples, I love the festivals, and I wish all religions were like that.

I don't think I know enough about Jacacean religion to debate, but hey, maybe others do!  Smiley

I just had an idea. My trekkie-ness made me do it!

When it comes to international relations, Orina Anoris is like the United Federation of Planets. Different cultures all coming together to work for the common good while still keeping their uniqueness.

The Jacaceans, on the other hand, are the Borg. "We are Jacacea. Your country has been targeted for assimilation. Your biological and cultural distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile."

Oh too true CL. Clap   Of course Jacaceans are a heck of a lot nicer to look at,  Thinking except maybe 7 of 9 maybe.

Back to the religion discussion.  I am please when we get to meet a god of any of the pantheons, Anorian, Soric or even Nouspolin, as it gives us a opportunity to see their priorities.  Either directly, or when they speak through one of the characters.  This last chapter, 173 we spent more time with the Anorian gods and I think through what Kuladin said in his blessing, the disparate gods of the people of the plains.  I didn't feel the blessing was just the wish of one pantheon by many.

When they all got together to buld the portal between the palaces, there were more than Anorian and Soric gods present.  They may manifest more readily in Orina Anoris but you can see that all the gods are very interested in the state of their people and the state of the world.
