I guess there's a reason why I'm posting on the board now... at 1:45 p.m. Switzerland time... instead of working, lol... I'm... not exactly bored, I've just nearly finished my work for the day (the problem with being extremely productive for a period of time means that yo'll eventually run out of things to do... other than cleaning, or rearranging files... which I'm going to do in a bit).

I love my job - I work in a humanitarian organization called Rotary International and we're currently working our butts off to eradicate polio.  We have this joint project with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the CDC and the Red Cross called PolioPlus.  Only 4 countries in the world are endemic to polio at the moment (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nigeria), but sometimes the viruses get imported to other countries.

Now, that's not all we do.  We sponsor group and study exchanges, we sponsor students to go study abroad, and we have humanitarian projects going on all around the world.  It's a great thing, but it always feels like we're not doing enough.

That's all for now Smiley  I could ramble here, and that's never good.

Matthew - ask her how many languages she speaks.  That's one of the reasons (along with her great intelligence) that she got the job.

I don't help save the world... unfortunately, we are far far FAR away from doing that.  But thanks!

I only got the job because I speak French lol.  Though they were happy with the other languages.  My former boss actually said that I was over-qualified for the job, simply because it doesn't require a degree.

Wish I could do more for people, though...

Your job sounds wonderful and fulfilling.  And Matthew's right.  You are doing your part to save the world.  If not that, you're making it better.

Respect.

Uh... four.

French, Italian, Spanish and English.  The smattering of German doesn't really count.

Français, un peu. Español, poquito.  ... oh, Arabic, that is supposed to be hard.

After four years of HS French, and two years of College spanish. I was walking across campus one day and heard the guy behind me speaking Spanish and I understood  him! Wow, I thought I've got it.
Turned around and ....   it was my teacher!  Only person I could understand. LALA

Neat job Silver. Where is your work in comparison to where you live? How do you get to work?
