It's up. Best lines so far? Turning away from the belas, Xio Voe crossed the room to where Anosukinom sat perched on the edge of a table. Looking curious and stroking his own thigh, Anosukinom murmured, “Do you like them?”
“I find them well-suited to you,” Xio Voe replied, keeping his voice at a private pitch. “Does Ka perform pleasing fellatio?”
Anosukinom’s eyes widened, and he laughed merrily. “Yes,” he said, drawing both knees up, “I enjoy it very much.”

I think my favorite line this week is this...
...unbuttoning his pants with the speed of a sloth.
Man, I feel bad for Talin, but I'm glad he was able to cry. His speech was great too.

That speech was absolutely fantastic, but it nearly broke me when Talin started crying.

My two favorite parts were... “Worried about Talin?” Anikira asked, noting the brief shimmer of distraction crossing Kudorin’s face.
“No, Talin’s doing well,” Kudorin said. “Xio Voe’s striding through the palace frightening people.”
“Frightening?” she repeated, curious. “What’s he doing?”
“Nothing in particular,” Kudorin said, sounding thoughtful. “The mere sight of him wandering the hallways seems to be enough to disturb people.”
and.... It had to be Kudorin. And he was, there, striding in. To Talin’s surprise, Anikira was with him, on his arm, speaking graciously to someone as they passed, touching someone else’s arm. And, shit, Remin was right behind them, and then Orinakin hand-in-hand with Bade, and Selorin, and even Desin, and of course Anosanim, and Rini, with unmistakable streaks of red in his hair. They’d all come. They’d all shown up, just for this. It was a ridiculous show of support. Oh honestly Matthew you just had to go and write the most wonderful show of support :::wipes eyes with hankie::: Great chapter.

Talin breaking down finally broke my heart, though I think he really needed to do that.
But overall, all I kept thinking about this chapter was Xio Voe as the crankypants matchmaker from Mulan, and getting the song from that scene stuck in my head. I love how irritated he was by it. And Kudorin knowing he's walking around the Palace scaring everyone just by walking aimlessly instead of measuring the walls for some obscure science project or something killed me dead with laughing.

I'm totally in the same boat. I was talking about this with Rhia recently, actually, about how hilarious Xio Voe is about the romantic matchmaking aspect of the King of Orina Anoris' duties, and I brought up the fact that once he's king, Xio Voe's going to have to head the Ilanosa Festival and the Festival of the Lovers. Think about it for a second, picture it in your mind. Xio Voe. In a stadium in front of thousands. Giving a speech about love. And the importance of relationships. And caring. And squishy love. And true love. And then he'll talk about more love. With his icy ice face. ... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm looking forward to this with unholy glee. Upon reading it, there shall even be a little singing and dancing. - Jae (Also, I cannot stop picturing Xio Voe muttering about how his matchmaking duties are totally cutting into his theorem-proving time. ::mutter mutter:: )

I hadn't thought about the festivals before. That is going to be freaking hilarious. And I'm very glad that someone besides Sue and I have phone discussions about ITL.

HA HA HA. I forgot about that. The sheer hilarity will kill me. Also Rini's face while he does it should be entertaining. *snickers* He'll try to put like, successful relationship percentages and study numbers into the speech, just so it has some SCIENCE damnit!

I can just see him talking about how bad relationships can lead to a loss in productivity, efficiency, and GDP-- "And we don't want that, DO WE?" ::cold, threatening glare at the crowd::
::hysterics::

Remin will come to him later and be like "the priests would like to request that you not emphasize the productivity benefits in your speech next year. Everyone's bosses is trying to offer pay incentive for couples to get married and the priests are getting overworked trying to give blessings and convince them that marriage shouldn't be rushed into for the sake of profit margins. . ." Bade and Vade will try to discuss whether Orinakin and Bade are more efficient now until Orinakin makes him shut up and do math. Hee.
