“Anoha Edanola.”  Bade smiled as the flow petered out.  “Thank you,” he said, glancing overhead.  What an amazing thing.  What amazing gods!  What an amazing land.

As he’d shaved, he’d thought about Orinakin’s smooth jaw.  None of the brothers had to shave, not ever, not for the rest of their lives if that’s what they chose.  He was more than a bit jealous.  Shaving every morning was rather tedious.  What a marvelous convenience, being able to avoid the chore, being able to dictate the length of one’s hair, being able to start a fire without matches.  What else was different here?

He wondered about the pharaoh.  He was to meet Anosukinom today, but he barely knew what to expect.  Anxiety churned in his gut, but for all of his nervousness, he was eager.  He wanted to solve the mystery.  Who was this man who played god?

Oh it is a delight to re-discover the treasures of these early chapters.

Quote from:  Selorin & Orinakin
“The gods will not give you a burden that you cannot carry.”

“And if they do?” Orinakin asked, simply wanting to hear what Selorin’s answer would be.

Selorin smiled.  “Then they will also provide you with a wheelbarrow in which to bear it.  Trust the gods.  You are theirs.”

*comes back to Chapter 4*

I love these early chapters, getting to know the characters all over again and to take the ride with Bade into the life of an Anorian Price, more specifially into Orinakin's life.  I am watching the Princes more closely this go round but I am still, and probably always will be, just as enchanted with Bade as his future husband is. Red Heart

Here we are introduced into Rini's dilemma of what his role will be as he grows up.  I have enjoyed this part of Rini's journey, his self discovery and it is nice to have selorin introduce it to us through his conversation with Orinakin.

Quote
“But two nights later, he’ll crawl into my bed to ask me how many days until Anosadum comes home, or how many days until you come home, or what I think the gods created him for and what’s going to happen if he never finds his purpose, and I’ll realize that finding one’s own destiny isn’t as freeing as it sounds.  All of that freedom can be a burden.”

We also get more of a glimpse into Vade and how close he and Bade are.  i love the story of the gift of the compass to bade from Vade.

Quote
“It will bring you home,” Vade said, his cheeks turning pink the way they did when he was very determinedly not crying.  “It will bring you back to me.”

I wanted to  Cry too.

And we get to see the differences in the cultures with breakfast.  I can't wait to re-read the skirt challenge when I get to it. Wink
