I just went over this chapter again and I like how well Orinakin and Bade adjust to Orinakin hearing Bades thoughts. When hearing Bade leads Orinakin to do think
Orinakin had brought very worthy candidates to Kudorin, now and before, and he’d had a few favorites, but he’d never felt this invested before. He wanted Kudorin to choose Bade. Marrying Kudorin and becoming king of Orina Anoris had meant different things to different suitors - - the position, the title, the power, the wealth, the duties, the country, Kudorin himself had been of varying interest to each man - - but Bade’s desire was so selfless yet so very nearly tangible that Orinakin wanted to pull Kudorin aside and tell him, “This is the one, this is your king, take him, marry him, give him what he needs.”
I find it telling that Orinakin wants Kudorin to marry Bade for Bades needs and not for Kudorins. I learned a lot about Kudorin from Bade and his discussion, about Anikira's place and Kudorin's Kings place in his life and I learned
“Even in my few years as pharaoh, I have met with many visitors from many lands,” the pharaoh said, “but of them all, you are one with whom the gods find particular favor. You have respected them and honored them.”
How much Bades sincerity and openess have endured him to the Anorian gods. I think this is lovely.
