I think that Talin and Anosanim's reign as Royal Artist and Architect is going to be amazing. I think that they will really start working together and sharing one day and Anorians will have the most beuatifully functional well made things and buildings.
“You don’t have to be better than me,” Talin said. He relaxed his grip but didn’t release Anosanim’s hand. “I don’t have to be better than you. Not at art or architecture or anything else. That’s what I’m learning to accept, Anosanim, that’s what I need you to understand. We can both design and build and paint whatever we want. We can both paint a portrait, then build a room to hang it in. We’re good with our hands, both of us, whether we’re holding a hammer or a paintbrush. Our talents are different, and our strengths are different. And if you are better at art than I am, or than Libi is, that doesn’t mean that he and I are worthless. What I have to contribute, I’ll always have, no matter how good you are.”
Swallowing, Anosanim curled his fingers around Talin’s. “Nothing about you could ever be worthless. I’ve prayed to the gods for your sight. I know that when you look at a building, you instinctively strip it down and take it apart and see what should have been done differently. I’ve seen you do it. You create such clean, straight lines, your work is so elegant, everything is designed so purely for its function, mine just seems so cluttered in comparison. I’ve tried to keep my designs simple, but then the fluidity draws me in and I start to see the possibilities and before I know it, there are flourishes everywhere.”
“Don’t change your style,” Talin said. “Don’t try to be like me. If the gods wanted someone like me to be the architect, I would’ve been born first. You have great instincts. Trust them.
