I love this slow build to getting to Xoe Voe and the rich history intertwined bringing past into present

Quote
What’s really different is The Heir.  If things were the same, he would’ve been why I was hurt.  But he’s the one who helped and healed me.  He took me to the hospital, he doctored me himself.  When I was thrown, he got to me before the guards did.  Physically, he helped me more than even you did.  The Heir’s a healer.”

“The Heir’s a healer,” Orinakin repeated, his gaze drifting away, his hand falling still on Bade’s ankle.

“Orina Anoris is the same.  Jacacea’s the same.  You and Anosukinom, the Emperor.  You have allies like the general, Jacacea has allies like the king, and countries like Ilaeia are caught in the middle.  Animosity and arguments abound.  But Heir Voe...  He’s different.  And that could be why we’re in Jacacea now.  For him.  Because the other Heirs and Emperors weren’t ready.  But he is.”

“Maybe that was what I needed to see,” Orinakin said slowly, considering it, his thumb rubbing around Bade’s anklebone.  “That difference.  His humanity, his compassion.  He won’t show it to me, himself, under normal circumstances.  You had to bring it out of him.”

Bade supposed that he didn’t mind making a sacrifice for the cause.  “He isn’t like anyone else I’ve ever met.  He’s as Jacacean as Kudorin is Anorian.  But I think that you can reach him.  It just may take a while.”

i don`t think I could ever state enough or too many times how much I  Love Mathhews mind.

I melted here...

Quote
“If you need jewels, I’ll buy you some mines.  But I don’t need jewels or riches or anything but you, Bade.  I need only your love.  Your happiness.  Your companionship.”

His beautiful husband, this child of the gods, had never lived a day without silk and ivory, without luxuries and indulgences.  But he heard love and honesty in Orinakin’s voice, and knew that, to Orinakin A Nimi, he was worth more than all of the diamond mines in the world.  Wrapping his arms around Orinakin, holding Orinakin close to his heart, he closed his eyes.  The glitter of gold is dull, compared to the shine of your smile.  The wealth of the Emperor is nothing, compared to the richness of your love.  The clink of coins in my pockets is a foul sound, compared to the tones of your voice.  I’d rather strip my body of all jewels than strip my life of you.

Orinakin’s words were soft, Orinakin’s hair slipping like silk through his fingers.  “Your love eases my heart and cleanses my soul.  I don’t know what I ever did without you.”

Aw...Drowning in Bade and Orinakin wonderfulness here. Bade had been injured the day before, Xio Voe is knocking on the door to check his wound, and Orinakin had mentioned how fiercely he was attracted to Xio Voe.
Quote
A knock at the door.  Bade glanced in that direction, then down at Orinakin.  “I think he’s here.”

“Shit.”  Orinakin hastily knotted Bade’s laces and stood, shoving his hair back.  “Go, go.”

“Yeah,” Bade said, rising with a grin, kissing Orinakin’s cheek.  “I don’t want to keep your lover waiting.”

Before he’d moved away, Orinakin was pulling him back, kissing him and drawing him close.  Comfortably ensconced in Orinakin’s familiar, close embrace, Bade sighed with pleasure and gave himself to Orinakin’s deep, heated kisses.  “You’re my lover,” Orinakin breathed, kissing him, “and my husband,” hand caressing down his chest, “and my partner,” kisses warming his jaw, “and my soul mate,” hand sliding over his thigh, “and my vinga,” soft, deep, passionate kisses, “and my only, truly, wholly beloved.”

He knew that, but it certainly was nice to be reminded.  Moaning softly, Bade slipped his hands inside Orinakin’s robe, stroking hot, tight, blessedly smooth muscular flesh.  “When you kiss me like this,” another moan stuttered its way out as Orinakin kissed his neck and nuzzled his skin, “I want to give you the world.”

A single finger slid along his chin, tilting it upward, as a beautiful smile curved Orinakin’s lips.  “When you kiss me like that, vinga, you are my world.”
