Poor Tano, even wet dreams destroy his ability to cook. It really was quite considerate of Kudorin to secure a day off so Tano can recover. I wonder if Tano will request that belas consider his kitchen off-limits. He can't ask that of Remin--he would never even think of it--but maybe he can spare himself the torment of curious belas.
And speaking of belas, this caused me to laugh my ass off:
“Over to the tree, around the pond, across to the door, around the bushes, and back,” Rini ordered, gesturing around the courtyard. “Whoever loses has to play pain games with the winner for half an hour.” Climbing onto Banok’s back for a better vantage point to judge from, he waved everyone into a line. “Wrestling and sabotaging the competitors is totally fair. On three!”
I wonder if Rini mentions things like this in his letters to Vade. He'd be cruel enough to do it and innocent (haha) enough to not think it was actual cruelty.
I miss Anikira. And Orinakin and Bade. A lot. When will they be back?
I'm so glad Xio Voe talked Remin into pressing charges. It really is the right thing to do. What impressed me the most is that I got the feeling that Xio Voe didn't just want Remin to do it for the sake of precedent and benefiting sexual assault prevention in general; he seemed personally offended that his brother in law had been attacked. Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see, but I don't care. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
And I loved Selorin's thought process:
Selorin wished that Remin had punched Torinako in the face. He toyed briefly with figuring out another way to get it done - - he couldn’t bribe the guards, obviously, but Desin would love to do it - - but he knew that Desin couldn’t just go around hitting citizens. Even the ones who broke the law. It was Selorin’s job to deal with them appropriately. Still, it wasn’t a bad fantasy. Selorin would punch Torinako himself, but Desin was appealingly strong.
