I know that the moderators of the board are keeping up as well as they can (thanks and keep up the good work!) but can we do anything to help, like report spam posts? Or should we just continue to ignore them?

I'd be happy to help out.  I am on often enough to do the link to eMail checks on the new member that I see and report the bots and spammers here as well.

I am also willing to send their names to Matt over in LJ if that helps.

 Thanks

I think the ones about stretch marks are particularly funny on this board!   Laughing  The subject just doesn't quite fit.

I was wondering that too.  It seemed to be so greatly reduced a while back when we had the Captcha.  Maybe that could be brought back, and anyone who has trouble registering, some of who didn't have trouble with the old registration methods could just register accounts for them?  they can always change the password once they log in.

'Cause I know I find myself reading here a lot less 'cause the board runs slow for me, and I can never tell which forums are lit up with something I'd like to read, and which are just spam bots, so I just tend not to bother at all.

Dena the Captcha that was here previously prevented many people from joining the board, especially if they were from out of country.  I luckily, had a comp that it worked with so I was registering people on the board at their request to get by it.  That is why I asked Matthew to remove it so the people I knew were reading ITL could register en masse.  Which they did.  I know that some people over in LJ greated the news with joy because they had been trying and couldn't join either.

BUT there are some captcha programs that work well with simple machines boards and a couple of other solutions that have been found.  I imagine it is just getting them set up and the time found to do it.  I like my Friday ITL chapter and have that as a first priority for Matthew now he has cleaned the spammers out and shut the registration down.

It is soooooo good to come on the board and find your post and not have to search for it.  Happy Hands Love
