They’d married into the royal family several generations back.  Then again, in Orina Anoris, whose family hadn’t?  ITL.126.12

Ever since were found out that one of the spouses of the pharaoh has to be an Orina Anoris natives there have been a few things I have always wondered about.
What percentage of the Orina Anoris population you think is made up by immigrants and how many foreigners do you think receive citizenship per year? Lets say this is based on the idea that the population is made up of ten million people. I also keep trying to figure out what type of foreigner do you think that Orina Anoris would be most likely to accept. Because they have such a thriving commercial sector, I thought that merchants would be most likely to become citizens or get some sort of visa or permit that would allow them to stay for long periods.  Orina Anoris could also focus one taking in refugees from the nations around the world, or maybe a lot of foreigners gain access into Orina Anoris by marrying natives that they meet abroad.

While Anorian law may limit the number of immigrants, I would suggest that anyone who is productive can get a visa or become a citizen - merchants, farmers, artists, teachers, etc.  I think you're right about the refugees.  They probably even recieve a high priority over any other immigrants.  But all in all, I don't get the feeling that there's much immigration at all on this planet.  (Which still doesn't have a name, Matthew)  And by the way Jen - you have the hottest icons.  I love the last one you used, and this one is even better.

Well, except for Jacacea, which is a pretty significant chunk of the world, even if it is less than half.  As to other countries... ::shrug::

In ITL 110:

Quote
A popular place to visit, Orikodisata was well-known as an appealing destination, and would probably rival Seijaces for the most densely populated city in the world if the government were more lenient on immigration.

Seems like people visit Orina Anoris, traveling and vacationing, but it's hard to get in and stay as a citizen.  We know that Jacacea, on the other hand, is happy to assimilate new people into the population.

You bring up good candidates when you mention merchants and refugees.  I'd imagine that marriage might be the easiest way in.  (Not sure how "easy" it would be, though, because if the marriage has to be recognized by the Anorian government, you'll need official blessings, so a quickie green-card type marriage wouldn't work too well.)

(The above is all speculation, not canon.)

LOL  Blush you know the thought of an Anorian and a foreigner having a sham wedding did not even cross my mind. I just assumed that marrying for love and finding a compatible partner was a given.

I would think that Ilanosa would stop any sham weddings.  And Jen - I keep staring at your icon.  lmao

Smiley I am glad you like it. I chose to use my Live Journal icons because I cannot decide which sibling icon to use. I like all the siblings and I am not ready to pick a favourite brother yet, so you all will be seeing non-ITL related icons for a bit.
