I know that Kudorin said that Talin had to get back together with Hitari so that he could get over him and move on with his life and find his true love (or something along those lines).  But I'm starting to think that Hitari and Talin are going to end up together....permanatly.  I've been kinda thinking that Kudorin may have not told Talin the complete truth about the whole situation simply so that Talin would give Hitari another chance.

I'm kinda rooting for those two crazy kids! Tongue

Me too! I'm worried though, we don't know when Talin's book is going to come out (it might be a while till we get to that story). Especially since they're already together, most of their issues are resolved and things are going smoothly for them. I'm wondering what the book is going to be about, what's going to happen... some kind of conflict I suppose. Hopefully it's a conflict between Hitari and Talin, and not some other bloke trying to bring them apart...

Didn't Hitari try that with all of Talin's brother's and fail? Plus, what about Ritek? He'd stalk them both...

Hitari/Anosanim... I don't see it.  I mean, it would be a fantastic pairing, yes, but I think Anosanim would rather cut off his hands and never wear jewlery again than hurt Talin that way.

And Matthew... tell us what you were thinking!  Please?  With a cherry or two on top?  And the Seven (eight) Siblngs having an orgy in your living room with all the belas?

I think that Hitari was seriously damaged mentally by being raised by a father like the one he had.  Talin is helping him to heal and I believe the two of them are going to live happily ever after.  Somebody dangle a naked Nick Carter in front of Matthew so he'll tell us what he's thinking.

Do you think Ritek is *the one* for Anosanim?  I don't really know.  I don't think anyone can really be good enough for Anosanim.

I hate to be a Debby-downer on this conversation -- but I trust Kudorin too much.

I've said this to M a bunch of times, but as much as I like them right now I know it can't be long term. It kills me, cause occasionally I'll see myself getting suckered into thinking maybe..., but then I force myself to stop.

Kudorin is a G-d, he would never lie to his brothers, therefor I have to assume that what he tells them is the truth. Which is really sad.

But if I am wrong -- YAY! If I am not, I hope there is someone amazing for Talin in the future!

I think I'm going to reread that part, to see exactly what Anosukinom says to Talin.  Maybe its something that could be intrepted different ways.

Ok, so I did go back and read it, because I like Hitari and Talin together so much and I think it's pretty clear in that scene that they're not going to end up together.  I really want them to be together though, because I love "broken" characters and Hitari is so broken and Talin's love can heal him.  I sound like a bad romance novel, I know.

So if we go by Kudorin's warning, things will definitely end badly and I don't want to see Hitari do that to Talin.  Sigh

Oh, right, it's at the beginning of part 13, just in case anyone else wants to read it for themselves.

OK  I did go back and read it, and really its all ambivalent until the last line.  "And then you'll be rid of him" is pretty clear.  That makes me a little sad, I was rooting for Talin and Hitari, too.  Then again - Matthew loves to play games with our heads.

I see what you mean, but remember, Kudorin said in Ch.111: "There are, of course, moments when I must say what someone needs to hear, rather than the explicit truth.  There are truths that I cannot share.

So there may be hope for Talin and Hitari yet!

(Though, personally, I have no idea whether to be happy or sad about this, because I don't know how I feel about Hitari being THE ONE.   I'll trust that whatever Matthew writes, it will be amazing.)

Awe, that's true!  I'd completely forgotten about that!  Sad Head Shake  I remember hating Hitari when I first started reading, then slowly warming up to him, and now, of course, I really like him and think he's Talin's mate for life, but of course, if Anosukinom has seen differently, then it's possible that he foresaw that Talin was going to try to propose to him (seems to me like he's very close to doing that) and that Hitari would refuse or something.

Oh, I don't want to know how badly Talin will react to that... *hugs Talin in anticipation*

Well, even if they don't, I really think that Hitari will have a major role to play in the future because if not, I don't see why he would have so much 'stage time'. Why show his and Talin's relationship grow so much in so much detail?  Unless, as Kudorin's quote suggests, it's just a chance for Talin to 'grow', to open up and learn to trust, and learn to enjoy trusting other people, in which case it would be kinda unfair to Hitari, no? Unless we don't know everything about Hitari.... I always thought that his coming around was a tad bit too sudden... the contrast between old Hitari and new Hitari is stark. Hmmm Maybe there's some dirty little secret waiting to be unveiled?  Hopefully it won't be anything to separate them permanently.

I can totally see Hitari and Anosanim: Hitari is always touching him up, and rubbing against him..  Anosanim loves it, but I think because he is quite clueless at times.  Talin told Hitari to stop caressing Anosanim in one part, and Ritek was losing his mind when Hitari was all over Anosanim at Satatunin.

So, I definitely think there is good possibility that something could develop there.  Obviously, Anosanim would get swept up in it a bit rather than actually set out to hurt Talin deliberately.

There is plenty of instances of lots of the princes being interested in Bade, despite his being Orinikin's husband, so that also suggests that Hitari/Anosanim could occur.

I have a question for y'all. Is there a physical description of Hitari? The color of his hair, eyes, etc?  I've skimmed back over the story, looking for one, but I must have missed it. I checked the wiki and there's no description there, either. I have this picture in my head of what he looks like, but I'm fairly sure I'm nowhere close to 'reality'.

So...what does Hitari look like?

There are descriptions of him in several places, but I'd check out the beginning of ITL 20:

Quote
Hitari’s dark eyes narrowed, slowly.  They were so dark that only direct light and a discerning glance could locate the pupils.  Talin had used to waste too much time blending paints to get the perfect near-black shade of brown, when he should’ve been working on his assignments.  Loving Hitari had consumed too much of his brain, his time, his life.

Talin and Bade have both called Hitari's eyes black.

Part 20 also tells us that his ears have been double-pierced.

If you're trying to visualize his hair, from part 18:

He’d kept his sideburns, kept his hair short in the back and long in the front, kept that brazenly, daringly, punishingly seductive look in his eyes.

Some more description from chapter 66:

The most expensive, exclusive designer in the country had created Hitari’s outfit, using this opportunity to display his work.  His well-defined chest and rippling abs were exposed by the long, plunging neckline, creating a backdrop for an elegant pendant hanging from a slender chain, on loan from a wealthy merchant.

[...] The line of Hitari’s jaw was pure sculpture.  The fall of his hair across his eyes beckoned Talin’s fingers.

From chapter 32:

But his eye was drawn to the open collar of Hitari’s shirt.  The delicate black choker around his neck.  The line of his neck, the tilt of his head, the pout of his full lips contrasting with the strength of his jaw.  The careful fall of his long, dark bangs that stopped at his jaw line, framing his face.  The way the muscles in his shoulders and arms filled out his shirt without creating bulk.

I like Hitari because his life is more realistic. I emphatize with him because he maybe bitchy but remember he was thrown into this life of debt since young and even though he repaid one, another pops up and the cycle continues ( sigh...that's how life is these days ). He's proven to me that he values family bond ( I find such bond is hard to find these days ) and he did takes effort for the second chance. Even though this incident ( no supply if no demand ) left everyone in a bad taste, but somehow you have to take all the considerations that leads to this incident.

Life imprisonment ( if he is convicted ) is harsh, I hope Hitari is given a better shot in life and love.

I, too, was a big Hitari fan - however, I do understand the life imprisonment sentence.  He committed treason against one of the Seven Siblings.  Even worse, he committed treason against his own lover.

Treason due to stealing gets life imprisonment. Hmmm...I wonder what about the attempted murder on XV.

Have we attempted to get into the root of the problem? What we read is the surface because we never knew the story behind Hitari?  Maybe we will...

In reality, when the debtors knew Hitari was back with Talin. The first thing in their mind, it's time to recoup the monies back as fast as possible. Likely his dad's debt is really big.Nobody believes their relationship would last long even Talin's brothers due to the fact Hitari is an immoral thief in the beginning of the story. It must have been a big scandal at that time.

Why I like Hitari is because he is an imperfect man who despite difficult childhood life strives to give his family a better life and strives to give Talin the love he meant to have. Treason might not have been a part of it but when you are in pits end, thinking can be irrational.

What could Hitari do? He had to resolve everything on his own. Like one said, do this you die, do that you die too.

The sad thing is Talin can now move on and have a happy ending while the unrepent Hitari is likely to go to jail and rot with his dad.

We know quite a bit about Hitari's background.  His father was a thief and the first time he was with Talin, he cheated on him and stole from him.  He even attempted to sleep with the other Siblings.  And what could Hitari do?  He could have NOT STOLEN!!!   Yes, he was only slowly repaying his father's debts, but at least he was HONESTLY paying for them.  Hitari ruined his own happy ending.

Exactly.  Hitari said that he was "tired of looking like a pauper"  - or a similar phrase.  He COULD have continued to pay off his debts and live modestly, borrow clothes for formal meetings with Talin's family.  (Or, if he was less proud, talked to Talin and said he couldn't afford clothes for meetings with his family, and seen if they could figure something out together - maybe with Talin or Anosanim designing some things for him.)  But he was impatient, and bitter over the situation, and decided that he was justified in seeking a way to better things for himself illegally, because his own situation was unfair and hadn't originally been of his doing.  It wasn't an act of NEED - he was borrowing clothes and making do just fine.  It was PRIDE.

What's funny about the whole "borrowing clothes" for dinner with the pharaoh is that Hitari could actually have earned some extra money to pay off the debts by borrowing/being paid to wear designer clothes.

From Ch.32:
“To answer your earlier question,” Hitari said, running his toes up Talin’s shin, “yes, Koramo knows that I have his outfit.  He paid me to wear it to dinner with the pharaoh.”

Tension knotted the muscles in Talin’s back.  He looked into Hitari’s seductive, black eyes; he needed to know.  “Did you come to dinner for me, or for your career?”

“I came to dinner for you,” Hitari said, breaking all physical contact.  “I needed something to wear, so I approached Koramo, to our mutual benefit.”  He looked frustrated.  “Talin, it’s bad enough that I agreed to come slinking back here on your terms, with your entire family judging me.  At least permit me to be well-dressed when I offer myself up for ridicule and inspection.”

Also, everyone knew about Horimo's crimes and trial (after all, gossip about scandal travels fast), including the fact that his children got saddled with his debts.  Seeing Hitari working extra hard would have been understandable.  Seeing him being paid to by designers to wear their clothes for important functions would have been understandable.

Great, now we're both standing at the edge of an abyss, each nudging the other one closer to the pit full of asps.  In all honesty, this thread has helped me to get a grip on the last two chapters and put my priorities where they belong - with my beloved Prince Nisutalin.

One of Hitari's first appearances... wow, how could we have thought that he was the one for Talin?!?

Chapter 18:

Quote
You can stop pretending,” Hitari told Panori.  “Really, Talin, did you expect me to be fooled by this little show?  I’ve had your dick, and I know how weak and ineffective it is.  No matter how much that eager little puppy barks, it can’t erase my dry, boring memories.”

Before Talin could open his mouth, Panori had snatched up the damp washcloth from the basin and slapped Hitari across the face with it, a wet, sudden smack.  “How dare you speak to your prince that way?!”

Shocked, Hitari spent one complete second in frozen astonishment.  Then ugly anger crossed his face, and he lunged.  Moving instinctively, Talin rolled, bringing Panori under himself, covering his bela’s body with his own.  Feeling angry fists strike his back, he twisted to deflect the blows with a raised forearm and kicked out, his foot landing squarely in Hitari’s abdomen and knocking Hitari back.  “Get out,” he ordered, fully prepared to strike, waiting for Hitari to make the wrong move.  “Go now, while you can.”  He could see Hitari’s hesitation, could see Hitari deciding to come at him again, and he put darkness into his voice, wanting Hitari to leave, not wanting the violence to escalate.  “You know the number of guards that will run to the sound of my voice.”

I LOVE that scene. I always cheer on Panori. Way to lash out without violating your physical sanctity, dude.  Boxing You rock.  I hope to see more belas kicking ass one day.

And I love the convo Talin has with Kudorin afterward, too.

I shouldn't be doing this, but in Hitari's defense - with the way he was raised, he's got a lot of shields up and isn't able to express his emotions the way he should.  I think he was jealous of Panori and just lashed out.  In a very real way, Hitari is just as emotionally crippled as Xio Voe was.

I do agree that Hitari was very much a product of his upbringing and it's next to impossible to consciously shed something like that. It's so hard to draw the line between using that as an excuse and using it as a reason for bad behavior. The initial lash-out could be excused, I think, but he was deciding to come after Talin and/or Panori again and Talin had to threaten to call guards in order to get Hitari to back off. I think that crossed the line. Does that make sense?

There are hundreds of ways to lash out without getting physical.  Panori, as Talin's lover at that moment and as a protector of the princes (I see the belas as protecting the princes, sorry lol), had very right to slap Hitari with the washcloth.  Yes, Kudorin said that Panori needed to learn to control his temper, but, as Anosanim said later, he was acting in Talin's defense, which was exactly what anyone would have done in Panori's position, though maybe not quite that way.

As for Hitari, I agree with some earlier statements made in this thread... he chose to be the way he turned out to be.  He had an excellent job as a model and, had he stuck it out, he could have paid off his father's debts within a few years while still managing to keep some of his money for himself.

I was going to post this in the personality description, but that's only for siblings, so... here it shall go (not sure if it's already been quoted):

Quote
“Did you like him?” Orinakin asked.

Yes.  “I enjoyed his company.  His conversation was intelligent and his manners were charming.”

A glimmer of a knowing smile.  “He’s very handsome.”

“Very handsome,” Bade agreed, “but it’s more than that.  He has a certain air about him, a sexual pull, a flirtatious streak.  He could be a bela.”

Soft peals of laughter.  “The gods know how aware he is of that.”

Ha.

Heyyyy... this is true!

Quote
Bade shook his head.  “I can’t imagine an Anorian trying to manipulate and deceive one of the Seven Siblings.  It’s a crime against the gods.”

Is the punishment worse for that than a crime against the state?  Though I guess one would say that the gods are forgiving, but while Hitari is in jail and shows some repentence, then they'll forgive him eventually and allow him a modicum of happiness.

Why do people keep calling me when I'm busy?!  Yes, yes, I'm at work, but I'm still busy!!

History wasn’t a series of individual events, but a rich story where each plot affected the others.
