There are new people purchasing Off the Record all the time. I would like to know what was your first impression of the book, and have you reread it?

During the proofing process, it seems like I read it 20 times. So I left it alone for a long while, but then I read the print book again a couple of years later and I had a great time with Jordan, my little virgin horndog. Smiley

Some of you bought OTR way back when Matthew was printing them himself and shipping them from his house. (I would love to know how many of you are still hanging out here.  Cool ) When the book was published through LuLu it underwent an overhaul and now it's a different version than it was originally. Has anyone read both and did you notice the change?

How many times did I rewrite OTR, 3?  10?  27?

The recent version (available at a fine website near you!) is very different from the first.  Some scenes are brand new, some scenes are in a different order, etc.

I'm glad that I revised it.  I think that it's not just different, it's better.  New and improved!

Actually. I prefer the MHT  version. After reading it the Lulu version was odd and edited weird. And I have two copies of the one MHT sent out, including the one that's missing 3/4 of the book.

I never read the first version--only the one on Lulu, which I liked a lot.  ::shrug::  I thought their romance was very sweet, and hot, and wonderful.

I would have still had my original Matthew-published copy of OTR if it wasn't for that damn thief!

It's better. Trust me. Sooo much more foreplay before that actual sex...

Nope. I think too much was cut out. I understand why it was, but it still was.

That one's the best.  It gets to the sex a lot faster.

Thank you!

I struggled a little with how flexible Patrick's morality is, how to redeem his character, etc.  I think that he had difficult decisions to make (especially considering his priorities), but he did well.  Happy endings all around!

Actually, it skips almost all the sex entirely. All that was left was half a blow job.

Time Out ****SPOILER ALERT**** Time Out

Shocked I remember being stunned when Jordan told Patrick that he hadn't known his father's true identity until everything came out.  For some reason, I really thought he knew. I thought he and his mother were just keeping it a secret. Just like that changed everything for Patrick, it changed everything for me, thinking about the impact this would have on Jordan.

I was so sad that he found out the truth that way.  Sad

I'm glad that it's ambiguous enough that you can make your own assumptions.  There aren't really any indicators in either direction.  Patrick brings up the subject several times, but Jordan talks more about his mother, his grandparents.

It's tough to be surprised in a book without the plot swinging wildly. I love when something smacks me and I have no idea that it's coming. Especially when it makes sense, I just didn't expect it.

Jordan was so pissed at Patrick. I loved their argument, but I thought they would work through it by the end of it. After Jordan dropped the bomb, I knew we had a lot more to work out.

I'm going to tell you all that book was so hot, my e-reader damn near exploded and so did I.  I was soooo glad when those guys finally got their hands on each other.  But you want to know something else?  The lead up and sexual tension was so awesome.  It was brilliant!  I liked it a lot.  The extras were awesome to.  Without giving it away, the continuation of their story was fabulous.  The kitchen scene...wow.  That's all I'm going to say.

Bravo, Matthew on a job fabulously done! Clap
